Will I get noticed?

if I wear this sweater? Do you think its so bright that it will attract unwanted attention? Its that handspun/koolaid dyed stuff that I did during the tour de fleece...um...last year?!! what?? Where is the time going?

Anyways the pattern is 'Leisl' by Ysolda Teague, and I really like how easy it is and how easy it is to modify to suit your shape and desires.

I also finished the handspun mittens - now that the weather has warmed up and mittens aren't really needed anymore.

Munchkin Sweater

This sweater is for Max - my little munchkin. I'll try to get a photo him wearing it too. I suspect it will be big on him, cuz he is only a little bitty thing. This is knit out of Berrocco Peruvia in a deep rich chocolate colour. Its my first time using it and I do like it. Good thing too, because I have enough for two more adult sized sweaters. The pattern is from 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts'. I've knit more things from this pattern book than any other book that I have in my ever growing knitting library.

More Slippers

I crocheted these adorable slippers for Morgan for Easter. They are from the same design as last pair, and they are from the same yarn as my symmetric cardi - Valley Yarns Northampton. I think this will be my go to worsted weight yarn. The colours are great and the price is right.

I just cannot get over how cute they are. Seriously. Gorgeous!

In spinning news, I've spun up some corriedale that I've had in my stash for a while. Its from Etsy seller RoaringBravado and its called Frozen treats. Its funny because pastels are totally not my colours but I really like this, and I had to cast on right away.


I ended up with about 180 yards of DK weight yarn and I immediately thought that they had to become mittens. I'm not really going by a pattern or anything. I'm just basing it on a pair of mittens that Amy was given for Christmas a couple of years ago.

But Wait!

I forgot to show off my new sweater. I finished this at the end of March. I've worn it already to rave reviews. Well, some people liked it. I like it. Its a great transitional piece that is good for this time of year.

Too Friggin' Cute

That's what these booties are. And fast too. Wow, I finished one in one dinner hour whilst watching Days of Our Lives. Yeah, I watch the soaps, so sue me. I call it mind candy.

I'm already crocheting a second pair for Morgan. Of course these will be much bigger because, hello! That boy is growing like a weed. Need proof? Here he is. Trying to grab Grampa Mclean's beer.



The pattern is from sylverdesigns.com I highly recommend this pattern. You can use just about any worsted weight yarn from your stash. I messed up my soles initially because I wasn't reading the pattern correctly. My fault, not the designer's.

Its been a while since I've crocheted anything. It feels good to be doing it again. I think I'll put down the knitting needles for a bit.

Ugly Easter Candy

You remember them right? There was always a handful of them at the bottom of the Easter basket, tucked away - camouflaged in the plastic Easter grass. Those ugly, sickly sweet jellied eggs of such nastiness that I shudder now at the memory of eating one. Well, that's what this yarn reminds me of. Nonetheless, I do like the yarn. I won't be eating it mind you, but I do like the colours. Perhaps I'll knit a Easter Basket out of it. Anyone know a good pattern for a basket?

Some more eye candy for you all. I present the most gorgeous critter in my house, on my street, in my town even. Yes, I'd venture to say this is the most gorgeous critter in all of Labrador. I just gave him a hair cut, something I don't like to do and he doesn't like to receive. But cuteness abounds. I love him.

A Baby Sweater and some spring potential

I finished a baby sweater.

Its for Kev's niece who is having a little boy this summer. This sweater will be ideal by the time he grows into it this fall. Notice that I neglected to put button holes in. I don't know what I was thinking. For the size of this thing, there were too many pieces. I hate seaming. I'm sure this pattern could have been easily adapted to in the round, but I didn't bother. I guess its not that easy. So now I'm not sure what I'll do for closures on this little thing. Perhaps icord, perhaps snaps. We'll see. I've got a lot of time to decide.

And here is a picture of Kev beating the ice off of our front walk. Yes, that is a snow bank as tall as he is. But the fact remains that the ice can be beaten off now. So, spring is here right?




I also did a little plying of something that was sitting on the bobbin for way too long. So long it almost seemed like the fibres were felted together. Lesson learned I guess. I'll never leave things too long again. I set the twist a little differently this time. Once I had the 100 yards or so Navajo plied, I dunked it in boiling hot water, then emmersed it in cold water. Then I beat the living hell out of it. It seems to have bloomed and opened up more than anything I've ever spun before. It is very soft and squishy. I'll try this method of setting again to see if the same things happen.



I also cast on for another striped Noro scarf. This time in actual Noro Silk Garden instead of SWS. I see why the harlot was so taken with this. I have a sweater that has to be finished by the end of the month, and I can't stop knitting this scarf. I think I even dreamed about it last night.
